Samsung has invented a phone that has a foldable and retractable screen. About it informs 91Mobiles edition.

The corresponding patent was found in the database of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). According to the documentation, the device has a design that allows the display to slide out. Also, the flexible screen can be folded if necessary. When folded, the device has compact dimensions, but when unfolded, the device can be used as a tablet.

The journalists noted that the engineers of the Korean corporation probably created the first such hybrid device. “The special design will allow you to use the large screen for watching videos and launching games,” the authors emphasized. A special mechanism is responsible for extending the display, which pushes and unfolds the front panel.

Additional information about the future smartphone has not been disclosed. According to the authors, the patent appeared in the WIPO database in June, but the organization published it only at the end of the year. The journalists concluded that the special design of the device is still in the process of obtaining a patent for it.

Formerly a reputable insider at Digital Chat Station predictedthat in 2022 the cost of foldable smartphones will drop sharply. In his opinion, devices with a hybrid design will be priced at the level of conventional flagship smartphones.
